MIS Port Speed, Digital Private Line or NxT1 (N by T1)

AT&T MIS provides you with access to the AT&T IP Backbone at speeds ranging from T1 (1.5 Mbps) to 6 Mbps (NxT1). Not all speeds are available in all areas or via all "Access Methods" described below. AT&T provides access service points at more than 600 ACCUNET points of presence (POPs) in the United States. AT&T personnel coordinate the provisioning of the local access circuit for you.

  • Digital Private Line: Private Line connections to the AT&T IP Backbone are available at speeds ranging from T1 (1.5 Mbps) - 6 Mbps (NxT1).
  • NxT1 (N by T1): NxT1 Access uses a combination of software and hardware components to provide you with greater bandwidth by automatically load balancing traffic over multiple T1 links. Packets are sent across multiple T1s, effectively performing as a single larger circuit. NxT1 helps to optimize network performance and scalability for networks with large and dynamic traffic patterns such as networks characterized by intensive web-based applications or interactive sessions. NxT1 Access is available for two to four T1s of capacity (3 Mbps, 4.5 Mbps and 6 Mbps). This offer is appropriate for customers seeking greater bandwidth without having to purchase local T3 facilities.

NxT1 MLPPP effectively bundles individual T1 connections At Layer 2 making them look like a single link with 1 IP address at Layer 3. With NxT1 Access, if one T1 fails, all remaining T1s continue to function normally. MLPPP provides full throughput for the selected speed. MLPPP enforces strict ordering of packets so that packets exit the receiving router in the exact order in which they were received at the transmitting router.

Customer Premises Equipment (CPE)

AT&T MIS with Managed Router service type is defined by this standard feature. The Customer Premises Equipment includes a router, Channel Service Unit/Data Service Unit (CSU/DSU) and a diagnostic modem for out-of-band testing. All CPE supplied by AT&T is pre-configured by AT&T and includes Advanced Replacement Next Business Day (ARNBD) support. You cannot purchase the CPE. All equipment is owned by AT&T, can be used for MIS only, and must be returned at termination of the service. The CPE includes the following features and requirements:

  • MIS customers with a T1 SINA MIS Access Port have two options:
    • Provide and manage a T1.5 multiplexer or a CSU/DSU with drop-and-insert capability
    • Have this component provided by AT&T.
  • All customers are required to supply a dedicated POTS line to be used only for out-of-band testing

CPE Monitoring, Management, and Maintenance

This standard feature is available with the AT&T MIS with Managed Router service type only. You assign full management and operational control (including passwords) of the CPE to AT&T. AT&T technicians work with your designated point-of-contact to diagnose failures and determine if equipment should be replaced or repaired. If replacement is required, equipment is generally replaced by the next business day. Customers with Integrated Access (T1 SINA or Channelized T3) arrangements who choose to supply their own CSU/DSU or multiplexer are responsible for its management and maintenance.

Packet Filtering

This standard feature is available with the AT&T MIS with Managed Router service type only. AT&T oversees the implementation and maintenance of packet filtering tables in your router for added security. Packet filtering is a useful component of a comprehensive security plan. It helps prevent unauthorized access to your internal network, and controls authorized users' access to customer-specified Internet sites. AT&T engineers work with you to define a customized filtering plan and, at your request, make changes to it.

Network Usage Report

This component provides you with online access to traffic summary reports which track access line use as a percentage of the available bandwidth. This comprehensive view of usage data provides you with a valuable tool to effectively monitor and manage their Internet bandwidth use and plan for future upgrades. Network Usage Reports are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week except during maintenance. You can access Network Usage Reports through a website with various security features. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology is used to protect your data from unauthorized users. All of your data is password protected.

Performance SLAs

  • 100% Site availability
  • 37 ms U.S. delay (Latency): Network-wide monthly average
  • 99.95% Data Delivery:Network-wide monthly average
  • 1.0 ms Jitter: Network-wide monthly average
  • 95 ms transatlantic network delay guarantee
    • Available to AT&T Global MIS customers
    • Monthly average round trip delay measured as the average delay on links link between NY and London and between Washington, DC and London

Customers are eligible for a credit of one day's worth (1/30th) of the customer's total monthly connection charge for service affected for each such incident under the following conditions:

  • You experience network outages in excess of one minute in any calendar month
  • AT&T experiences a U.S. network-wide delay of greater than 37 milliseconds or network-wide Data Delivery of less than 99.95% in any calendar month.
  • AT&T experiences a transatlantic network delay of greater than 95 milliseconds as the average delay on links between NY and London and between Washington, DC and London in any calendar month

In addition, AT&T MIS customers that have their CPE provided by AT&T as part of their service are extended the same limited guarantee and will receive the same credit for a Service Outage to the CPE and to the dedicated access facility from their premises to the AT&T Point of Presence.

Customer credits are subject to the maximums specified below:

Customer may not receive credits for more than one of the Latency SLA, Data Delivery SLA and the Site Availability/Time to Restore SLA if AT&T?s failure to meet the SLAs is attributable to the same occurrence at the affected MIS Port(s).

Customer may receive:

  • Only one credit for any calendar day for a particular MIS Port for the MIS Site Availability/Time to Restore SLA;
  • Only one credit in any calendar month for each of the Network Latency SLA, the Network Data Delivery SLA, and the Network Jitter SLA;
  • Credits for any Customer Site in a given month totaling no more than the total Covered MIS Monthly Charges for the Customer Site for that month.

Provisioning SLA
MIS SLAs also include a Provisioning Guarantee. We guarantee customers that get MIS will be provisioned on time or the installation fee will be credited (unless installation charges were waived).

Multiple Billing Methods

Flat Rate Billing
With Flat Rate Billing, you contract for a stated bandwidth and pay a set monthly fee for the term of the contract. Flat Rate Billing's level charge simplifies a business's budgeting and planning process.

Burstable Billing Method
With Burstable Billing, you get a full dedicated access circuit, but only pay for actual sustained bandwidth usage-not the full line rate. Burstable Billing customers can "burst" up to the full capacity of the pipe when needed.
